7371-Test Engineer

Position Details:

We are seeking a motivated and talented Test Engineer to perform the following challenging tasks:

(1) Design and modify opto-electronic test equipment for large thermal loads, high current handling and high optical power, or for high frequency operation, and for database requirements.
(2) Set up and qualification of opto-electronic test procedures and systems including fiber handling, Burn In racks, and parametric testers.
(3) Provide technical support to production personnel for a variety of opto-electronic test equipment to maintain operations and implement continuous improvement projects.
(4) Work with equipment vendors to procure test equipment to support new product introductions and existing product ramps.
(5) Work with product engineering and product development groups to design new tests, test procedures and test equipment to support existing products and new products introductions.
(6) Work with various IT support groups to integrate test equipment into JDSU networks and databases.
(7) Perform other critical tasks assigned by the supervisor which arise.

To Successfully complete some of the above tasks you will likely be required travel to other JDSU sites (eg. JDSU manufacturing in Shenzhen China) and to equipment vendor sites.

Requirements:

(1) BS degree in an engineering discipline listed above and 8+ years relevant experience, or an
MS/PhD degree in materials science, electrical engineering, physics, or equivalent and 3+ years of experience in opto-electronic device characterization (high power lasers and test equipment design and implementation)(2) Excellent communication and presentation skills.
(2) Demonstrated profiency in hardware design and debugging.
(3) Proven understanding of Visual Basic, Lab View and C++.
(4) Strong problem solving, failure mode analysis, project management, teamwork and communication skills are also essential for success in this position.
(5) Knowledge of opto-electronic device fabrication and packaging processes is an asset.
(6) Proficiency in Mandarin for both oral and written will also be an asset.
