Primary Duties and Responsibilities: * Database administration position involving management of multiple SQL Server databases in a highly dynamic environment. Work as part of a team in support of operational and project related activities. Provide technical and operational support to other departments and teams as required in support of business objectives. * Display strong inter-personal and communication skills. * Provide 24x7 on secondary level on call support * Provide troubleshooting for applications and systems and technical support for database related project activities. * Provide advice and guidance to development team as regards stored procedures, TSQL statements, DTS packages, physical and logical database layout. * Monitor all production processes for problems and errors, provide resolution to these issues. Additionally monitor SQL Server performance and provide index, statement tuning recommendations for improved performance. * Implement development code into stage / production environments. * Maintain documentation necessary for ongoing support of all processes. Qualifications & Competencies: * Expert knowledge in SQL Server and related disciplines * Strong ability to multitasks and effectively manage multiple competing priorities * Competence with backup and recovery concepts and procedures. * Good knowledge of log shipping, DTS, jobs, SQL logs and replication * Competence with various monitoring and tuning tools such as profiler, SQL Diagnostic Manager * Knowledge of data normalization * Advanced knowledge of most SQL utilities such as BCP, DTS etc * Advanced knowledge of T-SQL and ability to write procedures, functions and triggers * Minimum 3 years working with SQL Server 2000 * Minimum 3 years working in a production datacenter environment * Minimum 2 years working with Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 * Minimum 1 years experience working with monitoring and reporting solutions in SQL Server * Industry certification (MCP in SQL Server related discipline) or equivalent experience required * Able to work nonstandard hours including nights and weekends as needed * Ability to travel as needed T-Mobile is an equal opportunity employer (EOE).
