Assistant Telecommunications Manager-II

Position Description:

Assist the Telecommunications Manager in monitoring, coordinating, directing and planning of all section activities including: PBX/Voicemail, Premise Distribution Cabling, infrastructure support systems, Broadband Video, Videoconferencing, Voice Recognition, Automatic Call Distribution, Frequency Management and Audio conferencing. Efficiently manage multiple, complicated, telecommunication/network projects while effectively working with other sections and customers. Oversee support systems (HVAC/Electrical, Alarming, etc.) for over fifty communications facilities. Coordinate the activities of ISD personnel and vendors in troubleshooting and recommending solutions to communications troubles. Supervise and coordinate activities of subcontractors and Laboratory technicians. Apply Security policies and procedures to cabling installations. Perform job scoping and complete customer-requested cost estimates. Supervise Technicians and other staff.Requirements:A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent directly related experience. 4-6 years of directly related Telecommunications experience. Experience in assisting customers to determine their communications needs and assisting in development of project resources and assets as required. Strong communications and customer relation skills including ability to make customer requested cost estimates. Prior experience with cable construction projects within DoD secure facilities is desirable. Nortel Certification, RCDD Certification (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) and familiarity with Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) concepts and techniques is desirable.Project management skills including the ability to plan and manage resources, refine scope, establish baseline and refined schedules. Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office applications including MS Project is highly desirable. Familiarity with ITIL best practices and eTOM business process framework for Telecommunications is a plus.
