We currently have an opening for a Audio/Acoustics Technician at our beautiful San Diego, California campus.





The Audio/Acoustics Technician will develop and maintain an audio/acoustic test laboratory and conduct verification testing for phone development. The Audio/Acoustics Technician will be responsible for implementing new and established test procedures; acquisition and maintenance of lab equipment; and scheduling and conduction phone verification testing, The purpose of this position is to ensure that the developed phones meet all the audio/acoustic
requirements before shipment for type approval. The result being that all phones for sale in the market meet or exceed the audio/acoustic requirements.
· Conducts the requirement test suite on all phone, and reports results.

· Maintains the lab audio/acoustic performance requirements.

· Maintains and upgrades lab equipment and procedures.

· Understands audio mobile Type Approval tests.

· Develops and maintains lab test SW.

· Understands loss plan or gain structures.

· Reads and understands audio schematics and basic analog/digital audio circuits.

· Troubleshoots lab cabling noise and control issues.

· Troubleshoots PC based audio test equipment.

· Understands audio loudness scales, frequency response, noise, and distortion measures.

· Familiar with artificial speech testing concepts.

· Works with standard lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and bench power supplies.

· Solders and manufactures cables, break-out boxes, and interfaces

· Fundamental knowledge of audio, digital, and RF connectors.

Participates in planning meetings.


Required Qualifications:
Community College Degree with a minimum of 3 years of applicable working experience.
Good understanding of the fundamental principles of audio and acoustics.
Proficient understanding of audio/acoustic testing.
Some SW programming knowledge.
Demonstrated soldering and mechanical abilities.
Desired Qualifications:
Upper level high school understanding of both Physics and Mathematics.
Basic electronics and electronic component knowledge.
Knowledge of analytical audio SW packages.
General knowledge of different mobile phone systems and audio standards.
Some knowledge of 3GPP or 3GPP2 standards.
Inner city travel may be required for acquisition of parts and equipment.
