This position will be located at our Englewood, Colorado office. The Buyer follows established procedures, purchases materials and equipment, and services in accordance with specifications and requirements. Establishes, maintains, and selects procurement sources, follows up and coordinates problem resolution. Monitors blanket orders and contracts for adherence to terms, company policy, and legal compliance. Administers the PSI forecast and executes in MRP the Planning and Procurement of mechanical / install material for use by DIRECTV’s installation network. Manages inventories within the Supply Chain to ensure suppliers can produce and ship to the required delivery dates. Manages all supplier performance metrics including on time delivery, component cost, cost of transportation, return of defective material, etc. Utilizes and maintains the MRP system for mechanical / install material. Monitors and follows up with suppliers to ensure compliance with schedules and requestor requirements and to coordinate resolution of delays or problems that arise. Participates in pre-planning meetings and works with requisitioning organizations to clearly establish requirements including price, quality, and delivery parameters and negotiates contracts including price, delivery, terms, and conditions with suppliers. Prepares purchase-order packages for approval, documents source selection criteria, prepares bid list of qualified suppliers, review bids when returned, and selects supplier for negotiation of final pricing, terms, and conditions. BS in Business, Logistics or Engineering strongly preferred. At least 3-4 years of planning/purchasing experience in a high volume manufacturing environment. Must have strong quantitative and analytical skills; familiar with logistics and production planning concepts (e.g. just-in-time, materials requirement planning). Must have broad range of computer skills - database, spreadsheet, statistics applications, and logistics software packages. SAP MRP experience required. APICS certification is a plus. Experience in Smart Card/or Credit Card environment a plus. Must be self-directed, and have ability to communicate findings, make recommendations, and facilitate change. Ability to work with individuals at all organizational levels. Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to work closely within a team environment. Excellent communication skills, both orally and written. Must be able to work independently in a changing environment.
