CADD Designer II US-AL-Anniston Description:Under general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty in technical design work which requires CATV construction and technical familiarity. Implements the upgrade design with considerations for construction requirements, maintenance needs and cost effectiveness.Position Duties: Analyzes and reviews strand and asbuilt maps to determine information needed for upgrade design of the existing system. Responsible for reducing trunk amp cascades utilizing backbone design. Calculates and determines house count, drop routing, and any required drop rebuild/redesign due to plant limitations. Responsible for investigating possible continuity ties not shown on maps in order to reduce amplifier needs. Utilizes C.A.D.D., establishes cost effective ways to redesign the existing CATV system and increase channel capacity, improve distortions, and improve system reliability. Responsible for plotting and distributing prints to the appropriate departments. Responsible for updating database with additions and corrections and distributing these changes to the appropriate department. Responsible for running all necessary reports that need to accompany the plots.Other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Requires a working knowledge of computer operating systems (DOS based PC), C , Visual basic language and relevant experience with C.A.D.D., graphic drafting software and hardware, experience with spreadsheets, word processing and database software. Requires a general knowledge of CATV symbology, drafting techniques and tools. Skills to effectively communicate with both internal and external customers. Above average mathematical skills. (Prefer college level algebra or geometry.) Strong organizational skills. Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to function independent of supervision. Ability to operate company vehicle and a drivers license in good standing. Ability to train new C.A.D.D. operators.Qualifications:Education and Experience: Associates degree or certificate in computer aided design and drafting or equivalent related work experience. Twenty-four months C.A.D.D. experience required. Minimum of forty-eight months relevant CATV design experience, including all facets of engineering, construction and design, or equivalent related experience. Minimum of 12 months drafting experience preferred in C.A.D.D.Physical Requirements: See well enough to read computers, reports and blueprints. Manual dexterity to operate C.A.D.D. computer. Hear and speak well enough to converse on telephone and give and receive verbal instructions.All duties and requirements are essential job functions.
