Job Summary AFL Network Services, an established provider of Central Office Engineering, Furnishing, and Installation Services to top telecommunications companies, has immediate openings for Level II-III Central Office Installation Technicians in the Ohio. This candidate can be local to Cleveland, Columbus, Canton, Youngstown, or Akron. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Central Office Installation Technician is responsible for installing telecommunications equipment, particularly Tellabs equipment, and associated duties in AT&T Central Offices. Hours are 7am-3:30pm, though hours could change due to customer needs. Some travel will be required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. LEVEL II TECHNICIAN SUMMARY The 5 Primary duties of this position are: 1. Bay Installation 2. Cabling 3. Wire Wrapping 4. BNC Connectors 5. DC Power Other Level II Responsibilities: · Takes job specifications, verifies equipment, starts assembly of equipment.· Completes power run to equipment, installs all cabling to that equipment.· Wires all cable that has been run to the equipment.· Tests for completeness of wiring to ensure it is installed correctly.· Installs horizontal and riser (backbone) copper and fiber cabling infrastructure.· Tests and documents installed systems. · Adheres to fire stopping procedures.· Install, clean and test fiber optic cables. · Assemble, erect, align, mount and remove framework, equipment on non-working/passive telecommunications apparatus. Includes equipment on power boards, panels, batteries, and associated ironwork, bus bars, conduit and fittings for power, frame and emergency lighting, and vents. Also includes marking and drilling floors, letter and number, paint and retouch. · Run and secure cable and wire, including light guide cable; pull power cable and wire in conduit; lay switchboard multiple, including raising clamping and placing face equipment; prepare cable tags; mount terminal strips connected to switchboard cable; check cable location. · Fan, form, connect, dress or splice wire at all locations; continuity check wires using devices such as Single Lead Verification Test Set; place, fasten and protect forms; run cross connections. Install wiring with standard color code and straight terminal count. Obtain information from connecting sheets, wiring drawings and sketches. · Terminates cable on terminal strips, jacks, etc. · Mounts electronic equipment in relay racks and frames. · Interprets job specifications, work orders, manuals, drawings, performance specifications, and wiring diagrams. Reads performance procedures in detail from vendor equipment manuals. · Work with various hand tools such as pliers, saws, cutters, crimpers, wire wrap guns and drills. · Performs simple minor equipment repairs. · Label and designate equipment locations. · Load equipment and materials into vehicles as required. Necessary Skills: General installation of telecom equipment in central office. Proper use of basic hand tools. Ability to properly use ladder during work operations. Ability to read and understand MOP. Work from job specifications, drawings, and applicable manuals under instruction and direction of site IC. Properly perform designations under instruction and direction of site IC. Understands, adheres to and promotes the environmental, health and safety policies of AFL. Additional Preferred Skills/Experience · Must be familiar with all types of switches, routers, DACS, MUXES, DMX, bays, racks, DSX panels, OC3-48, etc. · Must have experience with transmission, SONET, and fiber optics. · Must possess knowledge of ATT Installation Requirements TP76300 and GR 1275· Must be able to read Telco specifications and equipment drawings. · Experience with the following manufacturers’ products is preferred: Tellabs, Lucent, Fujitsu, Alcatel, Ciena, Tellabs, Seicor fiber, BNC Connectors, Cisco etc. · Must have a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle. · Must possess basic installation tools and steel toe shoes.
