Conditional Access Supervisor

Position Summary
This position has full supervisory (work assignment, coaching, performance evaluation and scheduling) responsibility for a team of professional-level technical personnel involved in operation of complex conditional access & entitlement networks. This position is the subject matter expert for conditional access systems. This person will be responsible for handling all escalations from normal operational issues. The incumbent will be responsible for team training & development program completion, mentoring team members and improving process that the staff uses for day to day work. This person will lead and be responsible for major projects that directly affect conditional access systems.

Major Duties:
- Train and mentor all new employees. Work together with Conditional Access Specialists to resolve problems and improve their skill level.
- Supervise the operations of the specified applications; monitor hardware and application system performance; assess and resolve operating problems; provide substantial input to and conduct first review of standard operating procedures and guidelines.
- Exercise judgment during network incidents, implement processes that reduce incident duration, conduct incident analysis & develop best practices that optimize network performance
- Insure effective support of and maintain effective relationships with network users; develop information solutions that match user needs with system capabilities; respond to "trouble" reports and work with users to define and diagnose problems; educate users regarding system operations and capabilities.
- Design and develop implementation plans for specialized projects to include hardware and software applications.
- Evaluate new and alternative systems; help to assess needs, define system specifications and evaluate proposals.
- Support and enforce Central PA and Eastern Division notification and escalation procedures for conditional access outages, both planned and unplanned.
- Travel to various sites within the region to collect and organize technical data for testing in the division lab.

- Ability to produce documentation of operational procedures and written reports of lab testing.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Experience with Motorola digital and analog conditional access platforms a plus.
- Experience with Scientific Atlanta digital and analog conditional access platforms a plus.
- Experience with SeaChange ITV system a plus
- Strong organizational skills including the ability to coordinate, prioritize, schedule and manage multiple activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science is required. Equivalent work experience that is directly applicable to the position may be considered.
- Motorola training or hands-on experience in Motorola conditional access platforms.
- Scientific Atlanta training or hands-on experience in Scientific Atlanta conditional access platforms.
- Intermediate knowledge of SCO UNIX, SQL, NT and Microsoft Office.
- Working knowledge of headend components & their operations including VXWorks.
- Minimum 5 years experience with Digital Addressable platforms in an advanced technical capacity coupled with team mentoring, project leadership and complex systems operation.
- Working knowledge of IP routed networks.
