Controls Engineer

Influence: Effectively interact with other inter-departmental team members, including the in-house corporate ops engineering personnel, the operations engineering staff at all IBX sites (data centers), cross enterprise groups, and outside support vendors and consultants. Responsibilities Develop and update design standards for IBX controls systems. Review controls design documents for IBX construction. Review controls submittal documents for IBX construction. Assist in managing the commissioning process including; test procedures, schedule, coordination & "teaming" with on-site IBX Ops Engineering personnel, and impact communication with major stake holders. Provide logic and graphical programming for the controls system. Ensure "as-built" controls documentation is accurate & maintained. Assist on-site IBX Ops Engineering personnel in working with local controls vendors. Review existing controls systems for single points of failure and provide suggestions for remediation. "Out of State" travel and other assignments as required. Respond to emergency incidents as needed basis. Required Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred. Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in data center or mission critical system design, operations, maintenance, and project planning. Emphasis & special focus on controls. Must be conversant with direct digital control (DDC) systems debugging and programming. Knowledge of Automated Logic Controls (ALC) or Siemens preferable. Knowledge of Programmable Logic Control (PLC). Familiar with building codes and safety standards including UMC, NFPA, NEC. Must have effective written and verbal communications skills and be able to effectively use MS Excel, AutoCAD, and/or Visio. **Equinix is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
