Converter Repair Supervisor

POSITION:  CONVERTER REPAIR SUPERVISORDEPARTMENT: CONVERTER OPERATIONS

 

The Converter Repair Supervisor will perform supervisory functions related to converter repair activities. Other duties include but are not limited to: Supervises, interviews, selects, trains, promotes, schedules, motivates, evaluates and disciplines converter operations and quality control personnel. Ensures that the testing, repair and cosmetic refurbishment of subscriber equipment is completed within budget and quality standards. Supervises inspection of all converter operations equipment and material received by the warehouse to ensure that they meet specifications. Oversees all addressable converter, cable modem and remote control related initialization, quality control, and repair procedures. Maintains all equipment and work stations. Designs and builds new stations as required. Oversees test equipment tracking distribution and support. Ensures effective converter performance and maintains appropriate inventory levels. Produces and maintains daily, monthly, and annual reports on subscriber equipment status, equipment failure data and RMA tracking. Performs inventory and reconciliation of all subscriber equipment and related parts. Implements new techniques and repair standards to improve quality and efficiency of department. Assists in the development, implementation, training and deployment of new service networks, equipment and products. Prepares and analyzes capital and operating budgets and tracks departmental performance.

 

Qualified candidates must possess computer skills, including a working knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, Microsoft Office Suites, Network control systems and software, and CSG. Possess strong supervisory skills – the ability to effectively supervise a large staff performing a variety of jobs with differing levels of complexity/skill, including directing skill upgrades of subordinate staff. Must possess basic understanding of digital processes and encoding systems and associated hardware, universal remote control devices, RF and Digital networks as related to the communications industry.  Thorough knowledge of quality control procedures and processes. Ability to interact in a positive manner with management, peers and subordinates, follow directions and work rules and accept constructive feedback. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Technical work experience demonstrating basic knowledge of cable/telecommunications, electronics and/or quality control required. Prefer experience repairing, testing and trouble shooting converters and/or computers and associated hardware. Two years experience in a production environment strongly preferred. Supervisory experience strongly preferred. Familiarity with DAC, DNCS, DOCSIS, and ATE standards preferred. Possess strong verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills. Must possess working knowledge of business mathematics. Must be able to analyze data and recognize trends. Must be able to read and understand broadband technical information. Ability to lift 50 to 75 pounds – occasional. Must have manual dexterity and the ability to use basic hand tools and test meters – occasional, for training/demonstration. Must be able to hear in order to test audio – occasional, for training/quality control. Must be able to read test meters and operate computers – occasional, for training/quality control.
