Intrado is currently searching for a Database Administrator for our Longmont office.
Responsible for designing and managing databases on all production systems for assigned platform(s). Assists with the design, creation, and maintenance of Data Warehousing environments. Provides subject matter expertise on system data specifics and schema changes and provides support for product implementation.
Responsibilities Include (but not limited to):
** Manages the design, implementation, and maintenance of production databases on assigned platforms including, but not limited to, MS SQL Server, Oracle, Tandem, Sybase, etc.
** Monitors the database for consistent performance and provides feedback on problem areas.
** Administers and maintains front-end processors to include activities such as database backups, archival of data, system upgrades and troubleshooting hardware or communication problems.
** Manages configuration, maintenance, and problem resolution on assigned production systems.
** Performs routine maintenance of data tables, indexes, views, and catalogs on all production systems.
** Develops and maintains database dictionary documentation materials, as appropriate, and ensures accuracy and timeliness of product documentation.
** Provides reports and metrics for the data in the RDBMS.
** Identifies user access levels and security for each segment of one or more data items such as insert, update, select, or delete data.
** Confers with associates to determine impact of database changes on other systems.
** Provides data to help calculate optimum values for database parameters required to maximize database performance.
** Gathers information and assists with training, support and resolution of problems.
** Provides technical and application level support to customer to ensure optimal implementation of products.
** Evaluates customer and/or end user operations and makes recommendations for the development of new product features.
** As subject matter expert, participates in all phases of new product development, testing and rollout.
** Coordinates the installation, support, and on-going administration of Database Management tools and technologies.
** Attends design review and release meetings hosted by the Development and QA departments.
** Trains users and answers user questions.
** May assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of Data Warehouses and their components.
** Provides 24x7 database support coverage.
Education & Experience
** Bachelor**s degree in Computer Science or related field and 7 years experience in SQL with a background in database creation and maintenance in telecommunications or related industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
** Must have a solid foundation for understanding database management, relational database concepts and software development activities as well as a basic knowledge of RDBMS management tools.
** Oracle 9i or 10g experience required
