Demand Construction Technician

POSITION:  DEMAND CONSTRUCTION TECHNICIAN DEPARTMENT: FIELD SERVICES

 

Position will be responsible for building, analyzing, and / or repairing problems, which may lie within the construction of the cable system. Must be able to calculate cable footage and read surveyors’ grade stakes and property markers including strand, conduit and electronic design prints. Will install electronic equipment used in underground and overhead plant, communicate with public regarding day to day activity of cable repair status. Must be able to learn and maintain a working knowledge of overhead and underground construction regulations in accordance with Public Utilities Commission General Order 95 and 128 in order to ensure that work is performed to State code.

 

Candidates must pass field tests after 90 day training period to demonstrate knowledge and proficiency within the cable construction field.  Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and a safe driving record.  Must possess basic mathematical skills and good reading comprehension including the ability to read symbols and directions. Knowledge of overhead and underground construction preferred. Candidates must be able to lift in excess of 100 pounds.  Candidates must be able to climb 30+ foot poles and pass company climbing certification tests, must be able to use hand tools as well as power and air driven tools.  Must meet and maintain company’s safe weight policy. High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.  Previous experience in the construction or cable industry preferred.
