Dir, Business Excellence US-VA-Norfolk/Hampton Roads Description:Manages the development and implementation of projects/programs to meet business process initiatives, process improvement, product launches, other strategies and objectives. Analyzes existing project management methods to promote effective operations through standardization, improvement, simplification, discontinuance, or other methods. Conducts risk assessments, facilitates communication across operational groups, and ensures compliance with the defined process and/or implementation.1-Develop strategy for standardization, methods & procedures, budgets & operational planning for project management initiatives.2-Anticipates future needs for project management to support business change3-Directs staff responsible for project management activities within or across various functional areas4-Ensures adherence to the defined change management procedures; ensures that the required resources are applied to implement change;5-Interfaces across several channels, acting as a visionary, to proactively assist in defining project direction;6-Confers with and advises subordinates on administrative policies and procedures, priorities and methods.Influence/People Leadership - Manages via subordinate supervisors OR A team of exempt professional individual contributors and associated support staff OR May be a manager without direct reports, with primary responsibility for overseeing special groups/projects or processes with dotted-line accountability to the field. Ensures performance planning, coaching, and evaluation occurs per policy. Recommends pay adjustments and promotionsSupervision - Typically supervises managers and exempt professional or technical staffSpan Of Control/Complexity - Directs a portion of a broader function that is typically not standardized with regard to policy and delivery across the company. Typically manages professional individual contributors; may also directly or indirectly manage support staff. Focus is generally on short-term (typically 1 year or less) plans and projects (which can also be segments of longer plans/projects)Decision-Making Authority - May recommend/make decisions regarding existing or new programs/initiatives that have a significant impact to business operations/outcomes and carry potential consequences if unsuccessful; significant decisions are subject to review & approval by a higher level director or officerFinancial - Contributes to development of an operating plan and budget. Responsible for managing or coordinating expenses within a budget or part of a larger budgetConsequence Of Error - Actions at this level can cause or prevent delays, inefficiencies or unnecessary expenses that measurably affect operational results; impact is typically limited to a single system, department, or programTypical Problems Solved - Problems usually defined by higher level leadership; Problems are moderately difficult to complex; Solutions require analysis and investigationCore Functions - Head of a unit reporting to the head of a function or a sub-function. Manages operational plans and activities that result in accomplishing business strategies. Supervises, coordinates, provides leadership to and reviews the work of direct reports.Technical/Admin Work Performed - Almost fully focused on managing managers or supervisors or on technical/professional contributors Or May direct a function without direct reports but provide oversight to a special group/project/vendor/external resourcesQualifications:Typical Training / ExperienceTypically requires BS/BA in related discipline. Generally 10 years of experience in related field, including several years in a management/supervisory capacity.
