Dir Network Engineeering

POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary focus of this position is to lead the engineering, capacity growth and operation of the converged IP network. This position also requires the ability to work cooperatively with regional, divisional and corporate engineering and operations teams and business units supporting the company's residential and commercial video, voice, high speed internet product lines. Candidate must have strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.


MAJOR DUTIES:
- Responsible for providing direction on IP network engineering and architecture
- Directly coordinate various activities with the corporate offices and well as the regions and network monitoring centers.
- Participate in capital budgeting guidance and assist regions as needed.
- Provide disaster recovery and business continuity guidelines and provide ongoing support to monitoring centers.
- Participate in architecture and protocol discussions for Voice, Video and HSD, commercial transport.
- Support the IP training and develop or review training materials for IP engineering / network monitoring centers.
- Provide support for all product launches over the network.
- Manage network capacity growth and upgrades.
- Evaluate new techniques and technical expenditures.
- Assure regional compliance with Comcast policy and procedures.
- Provide major network outage support when needed and complete/review RCA's.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience.

EXPERIENCE:
- Large scale of Broadband service provider delivery networks including voice, video and data, residential and commercial, minimum of 5 years.
- This position requires IP and network engineering expertise and working knowledge of IP protocols: DOCSIS, OSPF, BGP, IP multicasting, VOD, VoIP (packet cable, SIP).
- DWDM/CWDM, SONET, MEF, ISIS, IPv6, video delivery back office knowledge will be plus.
- Capable of working in a matrix environment and strong collaboration skills are required.
- Demonstrated project management skills are required
