Ultimately responsible for source selection, contract negotiations including cost, and management of all operational/business measurements as defined by the contract. Works closely with DIRECTV Engineering to ensure that DIRECTV is using the right suppliers and that new designs are implemented successfully and efficiently.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Understands in detail the market for designated commodity. Market detail to include capacities and capabilities of OEMs, suppliers to OEM, new and pending technologies in the markets, types of components and pricing of components used in purchased OEM equipment, commodity trends, etc.. Uses this information to achieve optimum cost and delivery from OEM's and to better direct product development to the best in class suppliers for the future.Negotiates all pricing including the Terms and Conditions by which the OEM relationship will be managed Pulls together OEMs to negotiate DIRECTV volume pricing on high value common components utilized by all OEMs Works in conjunction with the Engineering and Field Op's to ensure that suppliers are meeting all quality objectives as outlined by the specification. Establishes monthly report cards for each OEM to include both Business and Quality metrics. Develops the Sourcing Acquisition Plan Works with Engineering, New Product Organization, and Sales/Marketing to ensure all future sourcing decisions for the commodity are managed as per the plan   Must have a BA in Business or a BS in Engineering, MBA preferred A minimum 10-12 years experience in a commodity/purchasing environment in manufacturing/materials organization is required Must have a working knowledge of accounting principles and general business practices Must understand all aspects of tooling including the advantages and disadvantages of soft tooling vs. hard tooling. Also needs to have working knowledge of injection molding, die casting, and sheet metal stamping. Must understand all aspects of electronics including supply base, pricing, capacities, and market trends.
