Director of Strategic Marketing

Position Summary:

The Director of Strategic Marketing is responsible for the coordination and implementation of Samsung Mobile brand strategy activities including brand advertising, media, CRM, Online marketing, Mobile marketing and Strategic Marketing Partnerships. Incumbent will also work closely with Channel Marketing, Carrier Account teams and Product Planning to provide leadership, coordination and marketing support for the launch and sell-through of new Wireless Terminal products to carrier and related accounts.


Essential Duties And Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned. In this position, either directly or through others, the incumbent will:

• Lead and manage designated brand initiatives. Develop objectives, strategies and manage execution of brand marketing plans.
• Manage brand advertising and media programs (both traditional and online), developing agency briefs and providing recommendations on advertising creative and media plans.
• Understand and communicate brand's unique selling propositions to key stakeholders, internal Samsung departments, wireless service providers, and consumers.
• Identify and lead CRM strategies and tactics, working with external agencies to manage the brand’s customer database
• Daily management of multiple external agencies and vendors.
• Identify and manage strategic marketing partnerships and events that further brand objectives.
• Collect, analyze, and report on the competitive strategies and activities.
• Gather information, conduct analysis, and report results to senior management and internal teams for strategic planning initiatives.
• Support channel marketing efforts by coordinating the design and distribution of research-based consumer insights about consumers.
• Prepare white papers and strategic alerts for management and program owners.
• Assist in the development of research instruments, research consulting, analysis, report writing, and presentation development.
• Provide marketing and creative services support to product launch teams.


Background/Experience to qualify for this position, the following minimal background and skill levels are required:
• Bachelors Degree preferably in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Journalism, or Business; Masters Degree preferred.
• Should have a minimum of 10-12 years experience with minimum 8-10 years in marketing roles.
• Background in consumer packaged goods or financial services marketing preferred.
• Experience in managing people and projects in large complex organizations.

Necessary Skills/Attributes for this position the following skills and abilities must be demonstrated at a proficient level:
• Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all appropriate levels within and outside the company.
• Plan, organize, and prioritize multiple assignments and projects.
• Read and interpret marketing documents, media plans, and contracts (or related documents) based on corporate legal and marketing standards and philosophy.
• Ability to take consumer insights and translate them into actionable consumer driven marketing programs.
• Demonstrated competency in both oral and written communication modes.
• Work independently and in a team environment in order to achieve personal and team goals and to complete assignments within established time frames.
• Familiarity with executing and interpreting quantitative and qualitative market research.
