Job Description Engineer-Construction p { font-size: 11px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 12px; } Responsibilities -Manage construction from initial site design visit through completed drawings including drawing review taking into account civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical feasibility; value engineering, zoning, FAA/FCC survey work, Phase 1/2 environmental, certification, signoff, and change orders. -Manage construction activities related to the development of multiple, simultaneous Network infrastructure projects including; RFQ or RFP process, Contract process, Sealed bid, Distributing bid packages, Coordinating bid walk, Awarding project, Monitoring progress, Providing regular status updates, Resolving issues. -Project Manage other projects as well as Construction projects.-Provide full financial management of all projects from initial proposal/bid through receipt of final product or service including; funding projects, budget tracking, processing purchase orders, reviewing work, and ensuring payment and final balance in purchasing software. -Provide team leadership and guidance by practicing Core Values including: creating and evaluating ways to gain financial efficiencies; creating process improvements; securing assets; and being accountable for vendor payments. -Evaluate ways to save money; challenge the ways things are done when there may be a better way to perform responsibilities; deal with peers and vendors with respect; exhibit the utmost integrity especially when in a position working with vendors and is responsible for payment of the vendors; and is accountable for ones actions. -Provide the necessary direction for individual/team growth and development. -Demonstrate professionalism by responding to e-mails promptly, actively participating in meetings, ability to explain issues clearly, providing updates, maintaining records, working with other departments, and understanding the impact of their job to the overall business. -Establish quality assurance methods, procedures, standards, and technical training related to site design and construction. Evaluate new products, services, and vendors. Weigh the pros and cons, including impact to the system, costs, compatibility, ease of use, reliability, timing parameters. -Interface with internal and external departments as well as regulatory agencies by interacting with municipal agencies in the pursuit of building permits, construction inspections, and by finally obtaining certificates of occupancy for network facilities. -Develop the skills and ability to represent the company at municipal hearings if needed in support of the Real Estate group. p { font-size: 11px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 12px; } Qualifications - Bachelors degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent work experience required. - A minimum of 5 years of experience in the cellular or telecommunications industry - A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction - In depth knowledge and proficiency, recognized by peers as technical expert in the following platforms and/or technologies: - Construction Management skills including: AutoCAD/design review, implementation, and project management, financial management - HVAC, emergency generators, National Electrical Code requirements, environmental requirements including hazardous material, spill prevention, and other regulatory guidelines, general building maintenance, and vendor maintenance - Power experience including: DC power systems, AC UPS systems, and corresponding distribution systems, troubleshooting High level understanding of the following: - Telecom experience including: T1, DACS, OMP - Voice switch infrastructure including: Lucent 5E and ECP, Motorola MGX, and Nortel MTX - Voice cells infrastructure including: Lucent, Motorola, Nortel, CDMA data - Microwave experience including: Nortel RD6 & 11, NEC OC3 Series 3000 radios Above average proficiency in the following: - Operating systems and applications including: UNIX, Windows, MS Office - Proficient in office computer applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access - Above average troubleshooting skills - Above average problem solving abilities - Above average project management skills - Strong analytic, interpersonal, and communication skills - Maintain performance level under varying degrees of pressure and uncertainty, and effectively dealing with situations for which few or no guidelines exist - Decision making (by making appropriate use of all available information and data; anticipating the future and preparing accordingly; recognizing the impact of decisions upon the rest of the organization; receiving broad guidance; being accountable for broad project results; and being responsible for the leadership of broad programs in support of organizational or area strategies) - Leadership skills - causing influence within the group being recognized as a leader within and outside of his/her work group; serving as a positive role model; actively providing coaching and feedback to co-workers; leading projects; demonstrating a positive, proactive leadership role including taking the initiative to identify matters of importance; resolving problems in a timely fashion; fostering a sense of teamwork; working well in an unstructured environment; engaging in group activities; translating functional/operational goals into team goals; establishing and modifying processes as needed to meet new challenges; demonstrating original thinking, openness to change, and alternative solutions; leading by example; demonstrating company values and policies; initiating action; and assuming ownership for decisions and results - Flexible by embracing change; adapting communication style to setting; investigating and- implementing alternate approaches to resolve difficult problems - Strong Project Management Skills- Above average organizational and planning skills by setting and communicating priorities; anticipating workload impact on resources of both self and team; delegating where appropriate; consistently following up on outstanding items; and providing focus in meetings and discussions - Ability to communicate clearly and concisely; applying appropriate grammar; listening attentively; presenting ideas in a logical, compelling manner in both small and large group settings; adjusting to meet the needs of the reader or listener; communicating technical information to a nontechnical audience; and integrating large volumes of information from multiple sources - Work flexible hours and support night or weekend work as needed - Overnight travel is required - Drivers license is required We are an equal opportunity employer m/f/d/v.
