Engineer II/III

Job Description: This position analyzes requirements to meet the demand and performance ofproducts, systems and/or data associated with Switch Engineering. Candidate willperform engineering design evaluations including cost-effective utilization ofmaterials. Will also design, develop, test and implement all components,equipment, and software within the functional area of the organization. Providestechnical leadership and direction in area of expertise for engineering staff.Enhances operations and maintain reliability of systems. Will performadministrative work relating to projects and assignments. Acts as technicalconsultant within and outside assigned department in area of expertise. Promotespositive change in the company's business strategy through achievement ofcustomer specific objectives and technological innovation of practical andprofitable nature. Works on problems of diverse scope. Exercises fullunderstanding of practices, policies and procedures. Normally receives littleinstruction on day-to-day work. Desired Skills: In depth understanding of telecommunications industry; an indepth knowledge of one or more engineering disciplines. BACKGROUND WITH NORTELequipment and engineering. In depth knowledge of accepted engineering practices.Computer software knowledge to include Microsoft Office, Custom Planning Toolsand Databases. Good analytical skills; the ability to prioritize projects; goodoral and written communication skills; and good interpersonal skills. Goodproject management skills. Minimum Requirements: College degree in Engineering or a related field and 2-4years professional level experience; or 6+ years professional level relatedEngineering/Technical experience; or an equivalent combination of education andprofessional level related Engineering/Technical experience required.
