Equipment Engineer* / 08-2094 Position Description:Summary of Qualifications:• Design and source various products, parts and devices associated with the construction of a wireless communications system• Find lower cost alternatives and methods of materials design, production and assembly while maintaining high standards of quality • Writing technical documentation associated with new equipment and materials, include design specifications and training materials.• Forecasting, procurement and supply chain management for major telecom equipment• Translating overall network designs into site-specific equipment requirements• Generation of site installation and commissioning instructions including equipment Bill of Materials• Updating of Network Inventory Database with details of new equipment location and/or configurationManage cross functional roadmap of site infrastructure equipment.Experience Requirements:• Minimum 3-5 years experience working in an engineering or field service capacity in the wireless or telecom industry• Desirable to have at least 2-3 years experience using financial and/or inventory systems for purchasing, budgeting, and/or supply chain management.• Desirable to have experience in a major service provider company (Wireless Carrier, CLEC, ILEC)Skill Requirements:• Ability to understand system designs for a telecom network employing, point-to-point microwave radio, non-line-of-sight, leased SONET circuits, and associated multiplexer equipment• Ability to take a new piece of equipment from general concept, to design requirements, design drawings, sourcing requirements and ultimately to production• Understanding of industry standards for telecom/wireless equipment installation, cabling, connectors, power systems and IP-based telemetry.• Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing as this is a position that requires daily interaction among a variety of cross-functional groups such as Network Deployment, RF Engineering, Operations, Finance, etc.• Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and juggle priorities constantly.• Willingness to wear several hats and ability to perform tasks beyond assigned role.Educaiton/Training:• B.S. in electrical engineering/computer science
