FIELD TECHNICIAN

Broadpoint, a New Orleans based telecommunications company, is currently seeking Field Technicians in Harahan,  and Lafayette, Louisiana, and Houston, Texas to provide support to customers offshore in the GOM and the surrounding parishes.  An Associates Degree, 2 years of college or equivalent vocational / military training in telecommunications and electronics is a must.  Candidate should have experience with the installation and maintenance of fixed and stabilized VSAT terminals, Two-way radio, microwave or cellular subscriber equipment and possess a strong knowledge of telecom products and general telecom fundamentals.  Salary commensurate with experience.

 

This position requires the successful completion of pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Job Description:  The Subscriber Operations Field Technician will be responsible for supporting all Subscriber equipment including analog and digital cellular, two-way radio, microwave and fixed and stabilized Vsat systems.  This position requires land and offshore travel, frequent overnight stays and the ability to perform at a high standard in pressure situations.  The Field Technician will directly report to the Subscriber Operations Supervisor at the respective office.

 Qualifications:

 An Associates Degree, 2 years of College/Trade School or equivalent vocational/military training in electronics and telecommunications are minimum requirements.  The individual must be proficient with various telecom test equipment including; BER Tester, Spectrum Analyzer and Multimeter, computer literate, proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products and posses outstanding customer care, oral and written communications skills. 

Entry Level:  Minor or no experience with telecom, Vsat, cellular or two-way radio equipment and materials.  On the job training will be provided.

 

Advanced Level: Minimum of 3 years technical experience in the wireless telecom, two-way radio industry performing duties such as; installing, maintaining and operating telecom, two-way radio or Vsat and network equipment.  Candidate must also possess a strong knowledge of telecom products, general telecom and Radio Frequency fundamentals.

 

Responsibilities:
