Field Safety Inspector

UniTek USA is a dynamic and growing company headquartered in Blue Bell, PA, just outside of Philadelphia.  UniTek USA manages and performs construction and installation projects in the telecommunications, satellite TV and cable sectors. Due to exceptional growth, we have a position in our Blue Bell, PA office for an experienced Field Safety Inspector.

 

Summary Inspects personnel, machinery, equipment, and working conditions in industrial or other setting to ensure compliance with occupational safety and health regulations by performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Monitors the company's safety standards in accordance with OSHA and state regulations.

 Inspects offices and equipment for accident prevention devices.Assists with testing and servicing safety equipment and systems.Observes workers and evaluates job activities to determine use of prescribed safety equipment such as glasses, helmets, goggles, vehicles, clothing, harnesses, and other equipment.Implements administrative controls to abate or minimize safety hazards.Inspects specified areas for fire prevention equipment and other safety and first-aid supplies.Tests working areas for noise, toxins, and other potential hazards.Prepares report of findings with recommendations for corrective action.Investigates causes of accidents to identify preventive safety measures for incorporation into the safety program.Maintains programs and record keeping systems that track and evaluate personnel injuries.Conducts trend analysis, audits, accident investigations, and site inspections of operational procedures, facility design, equipment, and materials.Demonstrates use of safety equipment.Conducts training classes covering policy, procedure, and regulatory compliance.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

Mathematical Skills 

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Computer Skills 

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Access Database software; Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Processing software.

Must be able to travel 75% of the time
