Field Service Tech II
Position Description:
I. Position Objective Job SummaryThe focus of the Field Service Technician-I1 is to install, maintain, and support the company equipment at the customer premise and support the customer's voice and data networks, while providing excellent customer service to ensure the reliability of the customer's services.II. Position Activities A. Duties and Responsibilities? Install, terminate and test Category 3 & 5 distribution components adhering to EIATIA standards. Also must be able to install customer premise telephony equipment including patch panels, wall and free standing racks, data and voice jacks as well as both 66 and 110 blocks.? Perform all installation procedures with the guidelines of NEC, OSHA, local state andor Federal policies and requirements.? Installation, termination and testing of Integrated Access Devices (IADs) and DSL devices from, Netopia Vina, Adtran, etc.? Perform T1 and Copper loop qualification test from customer's demarc, utilizing company supplied software and test sets.? Install and test network components such as routers, hubs, CSUDSU, DDS etc. that support our customer needs.? Ability to identify customer's network configuration problems.? Be able to work flexible hours.? Perform Preventative Maintenance on company-supplied vehicles.? Perform equipment inventories with automated EIM system.? Review, Update, and Monitor NuVox Installation Scheduling System.? Assist Central Office Technician in rudimentary collocation wiring, equipment, and augment installations.? Will perform site surveys as described in the site survey procedures.? Assist Network Operations Manager with the coordination of Installations, De-installations, and Trouble Shooting tasks.? Serve as a mentor and trainer to the Field Service Technician I? Perform ride-bys at customer sites to determine their satisfaction with our services. ? Responsible for all tools and test equipment provided by the company. All equipment must be kept in clean and working order. ? Responsible for cleaning and keeping in wearable condition all Company uniforms, as well as looking presentable for all customers. ? Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean driving record and must have a valid drivers license.? Any other assignments as necessary.
Qualifications:
Essential Skills3 to 5 years in Field Service Installation / Maintenance or Equivalent.A strong commitment to provide superior customer service is necessary.Computer experience required on Windows platform including proficiency with MS Word and Excel and ability to load and configure PC/network software.Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills for communicating with all levels of the company, venders, and customers.3 to 5 years in advanced Telephone Equipment Installation / Maintenance or equivalent.3 to 5 years of demonstrated experience with LAN/WAN hardware, structured cabling installations and troubleshooting or EquivalentAdvanced Integrated Access Device (Vina, Cisco and Adtran) configuration and certificationAdvanced Netopia / Cisco Router configurationAdvanced T-1 testing.Advanced TCP/IP TroubleshootingExcellent oral and written communication skills for communicating with all levels of the company, vendors, and customers.Advanced DSL TestingPreferred SkillsBasic Customer Premise Equipment (Key System / PBX) installation & configuration.Knowledge of Procomm / Hyper Terminal helpful. Familiar with back office systems (MSS, Clarify, RIO)Ability to support Collocation wiring, maintenance, and augments.
