Generator Field Technician Baton Rouge

Alpine Power Systems, a national corporation and the Leader in Back-up Power seeks an experienced field generator technician to be based out of our metro Baton Rouge facilities.

REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate will have a minimum high school diploma or GED. The candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of hands on experience in the engine generator field as a field technician or be a graduate of an accredited diesel school.  Must have a detailed knowledge of engine/generator sets, gas and diesel engines, and auxiliary support equipment. In addition, the candidate must have a detailed knowledge of automatic transfer switches and be able to use control schematics and wiring diagrams to troubleshoot and repair genset and transfer switch controls. The successful candidate will be based out of the metropolitan Baton Rouge area, however, field repairs will frequently require travel both in and out of state. In addition, the ideal candidate must be a motivated individual with good communication skills, both written and verbal, who can work unassisted. Will be required periodically to answer after hours and weekend emergency service calls. Must have a have a valid driver's license with the ability to obtain a CDL.

 

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:


Field diagnosis and repair to include, but not limited to, preventative maintenance and testing of site critical and life supporting engine generators and accessories. Generators range from 8kw to 2000kw in diesel and natural gas, and LP gas applications. Related electrical accessories include automatic transfer switches, remote annunciators, paralleling gears, transformers, service panels, wire, cable and all aspects of power generation.  DC Power System experience is a plus.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:


This position involves frequent customer contact throughout the process of initiating, troubleshooting and completing repairs in the field.  All locations offer clean, safe working conditions, however, you may be working in situations where hazardous and potentially lethal electrical energy may be present. Therefore, a detailed knowledge of engines, generators and load transfer equipment is a must as well as a demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting and repair of equipment using standard safety procedures.
