Government Affairs Prof

- Manage and develop relationships with key external constituencies, serve as company spokesperson for proactive and reactive issues and work to promote the brand and reputation.
- Assist with franchise compliance and a variety of special projects, tracking and monitoring franchise compliance matters, as well as the overall administrative support of the franchising and government relations team.
- Work proactively with other departments to ensure franchise compliance
- Monitor activities of local political jurisdictions. Assist with communicating information to local government officials regarding franchise compliance, community service activities and business operations.
- Assist with budget and rate planning processes. Prepare reports as required by franchise agreements. Monitor all franchise commitments and advise on necessary compliance actions.
- Represent Company at local meetings, and events and establish positive, ongoing relationships with public, educational and government (PEG) channel operators
- Coordinate and schedule meetings and presentations for the Government Affairs and Public Relations department; gather and prepare necessary materials and/or equipment. Use skill sets to create internal and external letters, memos, spreadsheets, reports and graphic presentations.
- Assure the planning and coordination of the calendar of events, schedule appointments, and manage travel schedules. Screen phone calls, visitors, and letters, answer routine questions and furnish information. Implement a weekly internal effective communication process.
- Develop and update database and mailing lists of key contacts, organizations, government officials, press contacts and other groups. Assist in developing, researching, writing, and distributing department documents and press releases. Organize and maintain government affairs and public relations department files.
- Develop and implement grass roots government affairs plan; coordinate and track attendance at local government and community events.

QUALIFICATIONS:

BA/BS in Public Relations, Journalism or Marketing with a minimum of five (5) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience in the cable television industry enabling the incumbent to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Past contract/franchise experience a plus, but not required
- Strong analytical, administrative and organizational skills; Strong project / time management skills
- Strong ability to multi-task and set priorities and follow up in a deadline driven environment
- Professional demeanor and strong self-confidence with an ability to establish and maintain effective and positive working relationships with employees, contractors and vendors
- Strong computer skills; Cable Data experience a plus
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written
- May require some evening and weekend hours
