IP Network Planning Analyst (Customer Projects)

THIS POSITION IS LOCATION FLEXIBLE TO EVANSVILLE, INDIANA OR BROOKFIELD, WISCONSIN

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The primary responsibility for this position is to develop the architecture and plans (and associated tasks) for an overall backbone IP network.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

Primary Responsibilities:

(1)  Developing the architecture and plans for customer IP circuits that connect to the backbone IP network, including the costs and justification for the recommendation.

(2)  Performing traffic analysis on customer IP circuits, ensuring that bandwidth levels and routing/diversity is appropriate.  Developing the plans to augment the network, optimize the network, reconfigure the circuits, etc. as customer needs/requests dictate.

(3)  Developing and delivering the training to the rest of the organization to engineer, implement, support, and troubleshoot customer IP circuits.

(4)  Providing direction for the development of tools to monitor, manage, and report on the customer IP circuits.

(5)  Working with the Project Implementation Team, Network Planning, and Network Engineering to review all Ethernet and DIA (Dedicated Internet Access) circuit orders to ensure that these are designed and provisioned appropriately.

(6)  Developing interface/hand-off recommendations, so that new circuits can be provisioned quickly and cost-effectively.

 

Additional requirements include other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Network Planning.  The associate may be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education/Training/Experience:

ü  Degree desirable, but not required.

ü  2+ years experience working with telecommunications, networking, and/or technological solutions in a business environment.

ü  Proven leadership qualities and abilities; previous supervisor experience desired.

 

Skills/Knowledge/Personal Qualities:

ü  The IP Network Planning Analyst (Customer Projects) candidate should have experience in Access, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio, and Word, but need not be an expert; he/she will also be responsible for entering information in the systems.

ü  It is desired that the IP Network Planning Analyst (Customer Projects) candidate have additional experience with Cisco routers.

Working Conditions:Works in a normal office environment.Willingness to work on evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required by workload.
