Maintenance Technician II

- Follow established troubleshooting procedures to identify faults within the subscriber drop, feeder/distribution and trunk systems to ensure proper signal level, picture quality and compliance with all local, state, federal and Comcast Cable requirements and standards. - Correct faults found in the above by adjusting, repairing or replacing passive or active components as required to maintain standards established by Comcast Cable. - Perform signal egrees/incress detection and correction and maintain a daily log of same according to Comcast Cable procedures and requirements. - Assist all technical field personnel when requested or required. - Audit and terminate unauthorized connections according to established Comcast Cable polity and procedures. - Complete and report test point measurements as required. - Perform emergency restoration of signal outages in the feeder/distribution and trunk systems. Assist when requested in restoration of head-end and related systems operation. - Perform system balance and system sweep operations as per Comcast Cable procedures and policy. - Complete preventative maintenance work as required. - Activate new plant and perform preliminary proof when requested. - Assist in service and maintenance of microwave, satellite reception, head-end and related equipment when requested. - Assist when requested in hub site and remote location transmitting and receiving equipment service and maintenance. - Complete and report head-end hub site performance check when requested. - Assist other departments and perform other related tasks and duties as assigned or as become evident. - Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Must have high school diploma or its equivalent - Valid NJ driver's license. - Certification in pole climbing and sue of bucket truck - Must have experience and ability to use the following equipment: Signal level meter volt-ohm meter Cable locator AC clamp meter television test set Spectrum analyzer System maps Time domain reflector meter Egress monitoring devices sweep gear - Punctual, regular and consistent attendance. Ability to work overtime as needed. - Clean background criminal check and drug screening - Must be able to work flexible days and hours, including overtime, weekends, and evenings per business needs - Must have strong customer orientation, with effective interpersonal skills including but not limited to professional telephone etiquette, as well as verbal/written communication abilities - Will work under minimal supervision, within broad guidelines of procedures and goals. Must be able to apply technical expertise to a variety of situations, evaluating problems and implementing the best solutions. - This is a very active job physically. The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following: o Climb poles and ladders, using gaffs if necessary, daily o Cary, set-up and extend ladders weighing up to 70 lbs daily o Must be able to work with confidence in buckets or on ladders and utility poles at heights of up to 30 feet o Lift up to 100 lbs occasionally o Reach, push, pull and hold frequently o Grasp and perform fine manipulation on cable and electronic equipment frequently o Grasp and perform fine manipulation on cable and electronic equipment frequently o Work indoors and outdoors in all types of weather o Operate a motor vehicle o Use the standard tools of the trade (screwdrivers, wrenches, drills, strippers, crimpers, hammers, etc.) to route cable, connect cable and install electronic equipment. - The maintenance technician must be able to work a variety of schedules in order to provide need coverage, for both normal duty and on-call duty. Must have sufficient visual and aural acuity to operate a variety of standard test and measurement equipment.
