Manager, VoIP Engineering
Manage a group of 6-8 engineers responsible for Covad’s VoIP Network
Team responsibilities include: Architecture, Design and Engineering of new products and services. Manage testing and qualification of new software, firmware, appliances and interop with multiple VoIP vendors. Manage relationships with vendors. Drive and coordinate multiple technical projects regarding improvements to the VoIP Network Ensures adequate tools and training are available for direct reports Conduct weekly team meetings to provide direction and collaboration on projects and deliverables Ensure day-to-day operation of VoIP Production Network including maintenance coordination and outage resolution Prioritize projects for both operational issues along with design and engineering tasks Manage projects and communication regarding project updates and collaboration with other organizations Drive standardization, simplification and documentation through the team in all projects and deliverables Facilitate special projects such as training programs, new tooling or processes for VoIP Support organization Coach and provide timely feedback to direct reports Facilitate effective communication with all levels of management, identify project needs and communicate to appropriate parties for resolution Communicate group requirements through written documents, visual and oral presentations Manages the daily workflow and implements process changes for greater efficiency Drive change by identifying areas of opportunity, recommending and implementing solutions Provide performance reviews of direct reports
Depth and understanding of common troubleshooting procedures
Experience in Wide Area Network Operations, PSTN, VoIP or other Internet environment
Ability to build, lead, manage and motivate teams and projects in a dynamic environment
Strong Logical and analytical skills
Strong organizational skills
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Strong problem solving ability
Strong leadership quality
Creative problem solving skills
Experienced in MS Office suite of product
BS/BA in a technical field is preferred
3-4 years relevant technical/management experience
