Manager of Financial Reporting Needed at Telecommmunications Firm
Our client, a telecommunications industry leader, is seeking a Manager of Financial Reporting to aid in fulfilling the Company’s external reporting responsibilities including preparation of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings (including periodic 10Qs, 10Ks, 8-Ks), registration statements and offering circulars, technical accounting analysis and the development and maintenance of critical accounting policies. The incumbent will work alongside external auditors to complete the annual consolidated financial statement audit, bank reporting financial statements, compliance work in connection the Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX), quarterly reviews of financial statements and employee benefit plan audits.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manage all external reported-related production including end-to-end oversight of Form 10-Q’s and 10-K’s, periodic registration statements and offering circulars.
Independently analyze and evaluate accounting issues and financial transactions for compliance with applicable accounting rules and SEC regulations and assist with the implementation of new accounting pronouncements and/or interpretations thereof. Areas of specific focus include leases (revenue and expense), derivatives, stock options, and accounting for income taxes. Drive issues independently to meet time-sensitive conclusions where necessary.
Develop and maintain worldwide accounting policies for critical accounting areas including revenue recognition and long-lived asset valuation.
Serve as liaison to functions and divisions outside the corporate accounting and reporting organization on accounting and reporting matters including foreign subsidiaries, corporate tax and investor relations. Travel domestically and internationally where appropriate to deploy related activities.
Manage special projects and unique analyses related to acquisitions, business development, financing transactions and other corporate-level initiatives.
Author quarterly technical accounting memorandum summarizing U.S. General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SEC changes relevant to the Company’s financial reporting.
Day-to-day management of external auditors, coordinating efforts related to quarterly reviews, annual financial statements, bank reporting, employee benefit plan audits and SOX initiatives.
Proactive and frequent interaction with corporate accounting team members in evaluating accounting issues and information related to periodic financial closings. Participate in account-level preparation and/or review for areas of greater complexity. Make recommendations for continuous process improvements to maximize efficiency in financial reporting and operations.
Provide support to the manager of internal controls with the coordination of SOX initiatives to ensure that controls are in place and proper documentation is complete and available.

Solid understanding of Sarbanes Oxley and its requirements
Bachelor’s degree required
CPA required
Minimum of 5 years Big 4 accounting experience auditing international, commercial businesses preferred
