Mobile Data Application Engineer

Job PurposeDevelop new market applications based on our technology, products and patents; provide technical support and expertise to internal and external customers; investigate, design and test new product applications to enhance sales and marketability. Attendance is required in this position. Essential Functions Develops new Mobile Data applications through experimental and theoretical techniques. (25%) Participates with the network engineering and network operations departments in the development of marketable technology and product applications. Provides technical support to in-house staff through product and technical knowledge. Uses knowledge of company technology and product applications to enhance the sales and marketing functions. (25%) Provides technical support to prospective mobile data customers, users, dealers and the Sales Department for technology, product development and applications issues. Supports other company departments by providing technical expertise on new mobile data applications and products in response to technical and market needs. (25%) Records applications and product related scientific processes through written technical application notes, journal articles, scientific papers and other forms of user documentation (15%) Serves as technical liaison with customers and marketing organizations, when required. (5%) Participates in company activities at trade shows, conferences and industry exhibits. (5%) Education Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent Experience / Background 3 to 5 years Accreditation / Certification / Licenses MSCE or equivalent certification is highly preferredPrevious Job Experience Previous experience with mobile data applications is required Experience with providing technical support to both internal and external customers Special Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Knowledge/experience of GSM/GPRS/EDGE network is required Knowledge/experience of Java MIDP 2.0 and C++ programming are preferred Ability to interact effectively with external users.  Supervisory Responsibilities No Supervisory Responsibility  All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, disability, place of birth or marital status.
