Position Summary:

Our client’s Handset Test Engineer position requires a candidate with significant testing and validation experience in wireless handset or handheld devices in the consumer electronics sector. You’ll be working closely with multiple organizations, key teams and subject matter experts to ensure that testing has been coordinated and is tracked daily to completion in a timely manner.  You need to have an intense focus on details and execution excellence, with outstanding organization, project management, and process engineering abilities. Good communication and report writing skills are equally essential to be effective in this role.

 

Responsibilities: 

§ Execute various test suites (e.g. Feature complete test suite, SOAK or load testing suite, test Midlets, etc)

§ Take a lead on debugging and understanding test failures

§ Understand relevant technical requirements and test cases and suggest ways to improve

§ Maintain test content on development servers

§ Participate in technical meetings for a handset project when required

§ Provide status reports and communicate quality metrics to project team and leadership on a periodic schedule

§ Work with Sprint's STIC lab, third parties around testing issues whenever PM requires such an interaction

§ Work with internal QA to resolve handset issues or cross train

§ Use logging and flashing tools and scripts as required

§ Run hardware tests and measurements around battery life, signal strength.. etc. as required 

 

Required Skills/Experience:

§ 4+ years of testing /technical experience with mobile devices or mobile applications

§ Experience using test harnesses, flashing, logging and debugging tools like QXDM, CAIT, and PST is a plus as is experience reading log traces

§ Knowledge of wireless communication and application protocols (CDMA call processing, TCP/IP, SMS, MMS, J2ME) is desirable

§ Scripting skills, XML knowledge are also nice to haves
