NOC Technician

Position Duties

Handle incoming customer calls & offer diagnostic services to determine the nature of the customers problem Provide technical assistance with proprietary VSAT & TDMA technologyAssist customers with technical support for installationsSupport customers with RMAs when hardware needs replacementAssist with the customer commissioning process

Proactively monitor equipment & networks to ensure reliability of serviceTake equipment readings including manual monitoring of receive & transmit signal levelsMakes entries in the daily log of all activities that occur in the NOC Adjust & modify equipment when necessary to ensure continued serviceConfigure SCPC & TDMA VSAT equipment including testing modems, etc.Verify outages when notified by the Network Monitoring ScreensOpens trouble ticket & contacts customer when outage is identifiedEscalates problems to the next level of support when needed Calls appropriate satellite provider when power level need to be verifiedInstalls equipment for new services in the NOC

Work with Satellite Technicians on customer field installations & repairsPerform cross polarizations independently & with satellite techniciansEnsure correct configurationsPerform diagnostic services for both indoor & outdoor equipmentRecommend adjustmentsSets up & performs 12 hour BER test to ensure the circuit is functioning properly

Receive incoming emergency services telephone callsDetermine customer requirements, begin work order & assign for processing

RequiredTechnical knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control & operation of telecommunication systemsTroubleshooting abilities in order to determine operation error & ability to make sound decisions to correct problems in a timely mannerGood deductive reasoning skills including the ability to apply general rules to specific problems to come up with logical answers involving deciding if an answer makes senseStrong ability to communicate well with clientsUnderstanding of satellite design & telecommunicationsAbility to work independently as well as on a teamAbility to perform physically difficult tasks Ability to work varied hours Basic reading skills & ability to follow pictures & diagramsExcellent eyesight, manual dexterity & ability to carry out complex, repetitive tasks quickly & methodically Good communication skills, excellent work ethic, dependability & able to efficiently follow oral & written instructions1 to 2 years Vocational training in a related field

PreferredAssociates Degree in a related fieldBackground in math, science, & computers
