Director, Network Engineering
Intrado is currently searching for a Network Engineering Director for our Longmont office.
Directs and coordinates activities of the Network Services groups within Technical Operations to obtain optimal quality, efficiency, and economy of operations in meeting the business needs. Manages the business operations of the team and ensures customer expectations and deliverables are met.
Responsibilities Include (but not limited to):
· Directs the activities and performance of the Network Services groups to ensure business needs are met.
· Responsible for the overall engineering, operations and performance of Intrado’s internal and external voice, data, and VoIP networks.
· Responsible for the proper design, functionality and availability of Intrado’s LAN, WAN (voice and data), and VPN infrastructure.
· Directs the evaluation, cost analysis, selection, engineering and network design of telecommunications services and equipment.
· Responsible for the datacenter management of Intrado’s local and remote datacenters; directs the evaluation, cost analysis, selection, and implementation of new datacenter facilities.
· Monitors the changing business environment, coordinates with other Directors and Managers to understand the needs of the business, and makes adjustments to processes and organization according to need.
· Leads Network Services resource planning and scheduling to effectively meet customer needs and objectives of the organization.
· Establishes and monitors key service indicators and metrics for network and systems performance and ensures compliance with business objectives and contractual obligations (SLA’s, etc.).
· Manages relationships with hardware, software, telecommunications and datacenter vendors to optimize services and costs; negotiates cost-effective and flexible contracts for software and services.
· Refines and conducts tests of disaster backup scenarios for critical operations functions.
· Trains others on Intrado’s Incident Command System (ICS) practices, and acts as an Incident Commander as necessary to support the resolution of incidents.
· Establishes technical operations standards, procedures, and strategic plans for Network Services functions.
· Develops departmental budget and is accountable for controlling costs and managing financial performance of the department.
· Makes operational decisions based on contractual obligations and sound business practices.
· Participates in operational status meetings with customers, develops strong relationships with them, and implements processes, programs and services to maximize customer satisfaction.
· Resolves issues escalated by internal and external customers.
· Ensures the department’s programs and processes are defined in accordance with the Intrado Quality System, and leads process improvement efforts and creates an environment of continuous improvement.
Supervisory Responsibilities
· Supervises the department’s staff by monitoring job performance and the completion of assigned tasks. Education & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 10 years of technical operations experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Minimum 5 years of experience in leading Network Services functions in an IT or Technical Operations environment at the manager level or above.
· Minimum 5 years of technical operations experience in Telecommunications or similar high-technology industry.
· Detailed understanding of Network Engineering, Network Administration, and Telecommunications concepts, tools, and technologies.
· Proven experience in leading teams that deliver against operational and financial goals.
· Experience building a team of high-performing individuals.
