Context

Position requires strong IP background to support fast-paced and growing internet services, IPsys service from SES NEW SKIES that directly connects the Points of Presence (PoPs) or customer premises of remote ISPs to the global internet backbone via satellite.  Heavy exposure to Cisco routers and switches is a must.  Experience with BGP, OSPF, HSRP, RIP, VLANS is very desirable.  The candidate must be able to support a rotating shift schedule.  Other skill sets with satellite or wireless communications is a plus.



Responsibilities

--- Support 7x24x365 Operations Center and service more than 100  worldwide clients

--- Monitor and maintain the production network by troubleshooting, logging, escalating and tracking to resolution, problems relating to data, network and other production systems.

--- Work with internal staff, external vendors and customers to resolve day-to-day technical issues.  Manage priorities on technical support cases and provide end-to-end service.

--- Implement new services by configuring routers, bandwidth management, and DVB platform devices.

--- Generate performance and outage reports as required.

--- Monitor and operate satellite ground station equipment locally and remotely.

--- Coordinate the efforts of Telco vendors.

--- Other duties as required



Experience / Qualifications

 --- 3+ years experience with technical support position in telecommunications and/or computer networking field.

--- Knowledge of IP network and telecom network and/or certification from CISCO (eg. CCNA)

--- Strong customer orientation

--- Knowledge of Network Management Systems (SNMP, MRTG, HPOV)

--- Cisco and Microsoft certifications are a plus

--- Strong communications skills both written and verbal. Speaking ability in French, Spanish or Arabic is a plus.

--- Independent problem solver combined with strong team orientation.

--- Capable of making solid, fact-based decisions under pressure
