Network Planning Analyst (Facilities)

THIS POSITION IS LOCATION FLEXIBLE TO EVANSVILLE, INDIANA OR BROOKFIELD, WISCONSIN

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The primary responsibility for this position is to develop the overall facility planning process for the entire network.

 

The secondary responsibility for this position is to develop the detailed plans to groom systems and circuits to new facilities.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

Primary Responsibilities:

(1)  Developing and documenting the facility planning process (triggers to move from an existing collocation space to a new hut or other new building, triggers to deploy new huts/buildings, etc.).

(2)  Reviewing the terms of leased facilities and developing recommendations for what to do (renew the lease, deploy our own facility, etc.).  This also depends on traffic patterns, customers, handoff types, etc. and must be done well in advance to avoid higher month-to-month charges.

(3)  Determining which spaces should be kept/maintained and which spaces should be consolidated.  Determining if kept/maintained spaces should be capped, and documenting these recommendations for the rest of the organization.

(4)  Working with Service Activation on collocation applications/augments and tie cable augments.  Eventually, this responsibility may be offloaded from Service Activation.

(5)  Eventually, performing all space/power/HVAC planning for the network, ensuring that the facilities are staying ahead of the growth curve.

 

Secondary Responsibilities:

(6)  Developing plans to migrate systems and services to new huts and other new sites, including the systems and circuit grooms plans necessary to accomplish this.

(7)  Developing detailed plans to cut new 15600s into the network (which is similar migrating systems and services to new huts and other new sites), including the systems and circuit grooms plans necessary to accomplish this.

(8)  Developing detailed circuit grooms plans to support the above.

 

Additional requirements include other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Network Planning.  The associate may be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education/Training/Experience:

ü  Degree desirable, but not required.

ü  2+ years experience working with telecommunications, networking, and/or technological solutions in a business environment.

ü  Proven leadership qualities and abilities; previous supervisor experience desired.

 

Skills/Knowledge/Personal Qualities:

ü  The Network Planning Analyst (Facilities) candidate should have experience in Access, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio, and Word, but need not be an expert; he/she will also be responsible for entering information in the systems.

ü  It is desired that the Network Planning Analyst (Facilities) candidate have additional experience with building/space planning, power systems, and HVAC systems.

ü  Superior interpersonal skills; ability to work well with others.

ü  Excellent oral and written communication skills.

ü  Detail-oriented organizational skills.

ü  Analytical problem-solving skills.

ü  An ability to understand complex issues and learn quickly.

ü  Adaptability, flexibility, and creativity.

Working Conditions:Works in a normal office environment.Willingness to work on evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required by workload.

 

Visual Acuity:  Normal vision and accommodation.
