Packaging Engineer

Department Description:

Mechanical Design Group

 

Scope of Responsibilities:

 Coordinating packaging designs with 3rd party design firms, and manages  schedule.Project coordination and scheduling of final spec releasesCoordination of packaging reliability testingChairs design reviews for packaging designsDevelop “standard” retail packaging and shipping containers for all product groups. Develops recommendations according to the nature of the product, cost limitations, legal requirements, and the type of protection required, taking into consideration the need for resistance to external variables. May be responsible for coordination of activities and logistics at secondary contract packaging and labeling sites.May require travel to vendor/supplier manufacturing site to assess technical capabilities or oversee initial production runs. Responsibilities may include documentation management and an understanding of good manufacturing practices (GMPs). Uses appropriate tools and performs integrity analysis of packaging.

Specific Knowledge/Experience Desired:

A minimum of 5 years experience in the packaging industry

Knowledge of packaging production material, equipment, and industry practices

Experience with high volume manufacturing of packaging products

CAD expertise, Pro/Engineer and Intralink preferred

MS Office suite fluency

Ability to work in a group environment, team player

Good communications and presentation skills
