Payroll Administrator
Position Summary:
The Payroll Administrator is responsible for data input, balancing, and auditing employee data needed for processing payroll within prescribed timelines with accuracy, quality, and efficiency.
Essential Functions:
§ Work in related payroll systems: Ceridian, Kronos, SAP
§ Retrieve, review, process, and input pay data with accuracy, quality, and efficiency.
§ Access computer for the purpose of entering and updating employee information, responding to employment verifications, researching and answering inquiries from center personnel, etc.
§ Communicate with internal and external customers effectively and clearly in writing, which requires excellent written communication skills (grammar, spelling, sentence structure).
§ Use independent judgment, logic and analytical skills in problem solving.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
§ Ensure related system data is entered per payroll procedures and forms; including Kronos, Ceridian, and other related payroll systems.
§ Ensure payroll internal controls and procedures are followed.
§ Process payroll manual checks by producing check logs and other necessary related tasks.
§ Process banking requests and follow-up as appropriate; bank reversals, stops, voids, and reissues.
§ Research and perform Benefit Time Audits as requested.
§ Research and respond to Garnishment requests; data entry, complete answers, and process checks through Accounts Payable.
§ Take the initiative to stay updated on payroll knowledge, policies, procedures and changes in the department.
§ Complete everyday payroll duties related to payroll processing such as filing, stuffing envelopes, making copies, sorting checks, preparing packages for mail distribution.
§ All other duties assigned by management.
Background Requirements:
Education:
· High School diploma or GED required; Some college a definite plus.
· FPC or CPP certification a plus.
Experience:
Payroll experience should be a minimum of at least three years working in a fast paced, multi-sate payroll environment. Accounting experience helpful.
Abilities:
· Excellent written communication and verbal skills; attention to customer service.
· Proficiency in Word, Excel; working knowledge of Ceridian, SAP, Kronos, or other payroll and timekeeping systems a plus.
· Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
· Excellent interpersonal skills; must be a team player who can think outside of the box and take initiative.
