Context:

The Product Development Manager will be responsible for strategic product development and planning, strategic market research and strategic technical research to support the development of future product offerings. Dreaming of and developing new ideas will be a critical for success. 

 

Responsibilities:

The Product Manager will be responsible for leading a cross-functional team that will develop and manage a product offering from initial idea to profitable, market-focused solution.  The product concepts will come from existing ideas developed within the organization, the Product Manager’s own ideas based on extensive industry experience, by contact with existing customers and from the results of market research and analysis.  The Product Manager will have a unique combination of business and technical acumen, a strategic big-picture vision of the industry and the ability and drive to bring that vision to reality.  The Product Manager will be required to have a problem solving mentality with the ability to assess market needs and translate them into innovative broad-based solutions.

 

The Product Manager will be an effective communicator with the ability to work with all areas of the company, including Engineering to define product requirements, Sales to understand customer needs, Finance to develop profitable pricing models and strategies, Operations to define a customer support approach and Marketing Communications to define the go-to-market strategy.

 

The Product Manager will support the sales channel and key customers as needed in communicating product functionality and operations.

 

Experience/Qualifications:

· 10+ years experience in the telecommunications and/or satellite services industries with 5+ years of marketing/product management experience.

· Bachelors Bachelors Degree in Engineering required; MBA preferred

· Demonstrated ability to drive positive results.

· Strong communications technology knowledge.

· Demonstrated ability to use vision and aggressive goal setting to create an environment for quantum change.

· Demonstrated ability to develop products & services leading to increased revenue with positive bottom line results.

· Ability to anticipate business’ issues and needs; initiates action (prior to being requested).

· Effective

· Demonstrated hands-on contributor who has successfully worked the details.

· Very effective oral and written communication and presentation skills.

· Extremely analytical

· Demonstrated facilitation

 

Essential Job Functions:

· Develop and maintain the product development roadmap that identifies all potential AMERICOM Enterprise Services product offerings.

· Lead new business initiatives that may lead to the development of new products.

· Create a strategic vision of new product candidates through thorough understanding of market, financial, technical and operational considerations.

· Understand and characterize overall competitive environment in multiple communications industry sectors.

· Be the evangelist for the company, both internally and externally, for new products and services.

· Attend broad range of industry events and forums relating to satellite, wireless, terrestrial and other communications industry sectors.

· Lead initiatives targeted at developing new product offerings and the extension of existing product offerings.

· Management of the entire product lifecycle for multiple products.

· Specify market requirements through primary and secondary market research, competitive analysis and customer visits.
