Product Line Manager, CPE Business

 

Occam is a leading supplier of Broadband Loop Carrier (new generation of digital loop carrier) to North American Independent Operating Companies. Occam has differentiated its product line by basing its core technologies on Gigabit Ethernet and an IP service delivery model instead of the traditional SONET and ATM telco technologies.

 

The successful candidate will be part of a team of product managers managing Occam’s Broadband Loop Carrier product line, consisting of the BLC 6000 Loop Carrier System, the OccamView Element Management and both Point-to-Point Gigabit Ethernet and GPON Fiber To The Premise solutions.  You will perform the full range of product management function: strategic planning, product definition and product lifecycle management, program management, internal and outbound marketing and business management.

 

Responsibilities:                            

Cradle-to-grave product line management and champion for FTTx Customer Premises Equipment.

 

Working with the engineering team to develop product line strategy and roadmaps, define new products, provide market requirements specification.

 

Work with the sales team, Marketing Managers and Product Line Managers to market the Occam solutions: work on the development of product literature and providing sales support (e.g. customer presentations, industry shows, tradeshow booth duty, etc.)

 

Track sales and review revenue plans and goals, making recommendations on marketing plans and help develop production forecasts, determine make vs. buy decisions.

 

Track competitive marketplace, and maintain information base on competitive pricing and products.

 

Provide insight into the Local Exchange Carrier (ILEC/IOCs/RBOCs and CLECs) marketplace from a business and infrastructure perspective including intimate knowledge of the customers, various business models, technology, telecomm regulatory environment and competitors. 

 

Willingness and ability to travel.  Preferred location is at Occam's Fremont, CA office or out of Santa Barbara headquarters or Camarillo, satellite facility.

 

Qualifications:

§         BS Business, BS Engineering, BSCS or equivalent.

§         A minimum of  7 years of related experience in data- or tele-communications industry. An advantage would be previous employment with a Digital Loop Carrier, telecom/datacom CPE, FTTP and/or IP routing vendor

§         Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills.  An excellent track record of success driving cross-functional teams, and experience in writing market requirement documents, proposals and marketing literature.
