Program Manager
Symmetricom designs, manufactures and markets atomic clocks and network synchronization and timing solutions used in wireline and wireless telecom networks, space, defense and avionics systems, and enterprise IT networks. Our customers include network service providers, telecom equipment manufacturers, military and aerospace contractors, enterprises, as well as government and research facilities in over 90 countries around the globe. We currently have an opportunity in our San Jose-based headquarters for a Program Manager to support the Telecom Solutions Division. Responsibilities: Monitor, coordinate, and communicate the progress of multiple small and medium-sized cross-functional and cross-organizational technical projects. Work very closely with product and process owners in Marketing, Service, Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Finance to maximize business results by resolving problems. Track project progress through the product development and problem resolution processes from initiation through closure and retrospective. Communicate upcoming deliverables, owners, and due dates. Measure and clearly communicate results to a broad team. Identify, propose, and implement improvements to the product development and problem resolution processes. Assist project leaders and problem owners in improving results by identifying execution challenges and alternate approaches. Essential Qualifications: 3 years experience in a cross-functional and cross-organizational technical work environment, managing through a process. 2 year technical degree. Self-directed, quick-learner, results-oriented. Flexible, but principle-driven. Comfortable working under time-pressure. Strong interpersonal skills to gain commitments and deliver results through others. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; clarity and timeliness. Excellent organizational skills; detail-oriented and systematic. Familiarity with hardware and software engineering documentation systems. Minimum of 1 year experience with the Agile Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tool. Great computer skills using MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with administration of a MS SharePoint site. Experience working across organizational boundaries. Willing to travel overseas occasionally; typically less than 2 weeks per six months. Desired Qualifications: 5 years experience in a cross-organizational technical work environment. Experience working in globally dispersed teams. Experience in a telecom equipment development, manufacturing, and marketing organization.
