Project Accountant

The Project Accountant will be responsible for assisting Operations and the Research & Development Group in tracking and analyzing their projects through all live cycle phases, ensuring that each project is being monitored and measured against baseline budgets, schedules and scope. The Project Accountant will also be responsible for generating reports from SAP used both to develop monthly financial statements and support routine requests from management. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience with Excel and capable of using it to create reports.

Responsibilities:Develop and implement reports to be used for tracking and reporting project expenditures and commitments Assist in finding more efficient ways of recording and reporting project data including the implementation of COGNOS reporting softwareProvide utilization data to support ongoing resource planning efforts

Review of project status in relation to plan as part of month-end close

Correct project costs by preparing and submitting journal entries when required

Support the forecast process

Generate reports required during the month-end close

Train Project/Program managers on how to efficiently use SAP in managing the financial aspects of their projects

Participate in the documentation of processes and training

Qualifications:Ability to interact with other departments internallyStrong ability to understand processes from beginning to endEffective written and oral communication skillsEffective organizational skills

Able to work independently

Highly motivated

Willing to learn

Knowledge of SAP desirable

Extensive knowledge of Excel

2 - 5 years of related experience

Bachelor's Degree
