Project Manager, Data Center Management
Summary:
This individual will be instrumental in driving our mission of building the Data Center Management organization, enabling innovation, furthering productivity and delivering value to our clients through the effective management and delivery of DCM services. Utilizing industry standard, best practices, this position will be responsible for proactively managing projects that require Data Center space, cooling and power. Identification, coordination and management of a projects cross-functional impact are critical to success. Ensuring established service level agreements for both internal and external clients are maintained, tracked and reported, while providing project management oversight, cost-effective development, growth, and implementation of information systems projects to support the business needs and objectives of the company.
Job Responsibilities:
Maintain project plans, issues tracking log, contact lists, and meeting minutes for all assigned project
Identify Data Center requirements for all assigned projects, including server specific information like receptacle type, HVAC, space requirements, etc.
Maintain data repository that houses information for all currently assigned projects
Support Data Center Strategy and ensure project planning is consistent with strategy
Work with various organizations to define equipment needs ensuring technology being deployed is compliment with published architectural board standards
Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs
Participates in the analysis, design and implementation of cost effective solutions to business issues.
Facilitate meetings to ensure effective project delivery
Write detailed description of technical requirements, or implementation specifications, and steps required to deliver Data Center services (space, power, and cooling)
Participate in performance metric program
Analyzes, investigates, and helps to develop a proposed solution to Data Center requests for space, power and cooling
Participate in recruiting, mentoring, professional development and motivation of other technology professionals.
Assist in the development and maintenance of a project management standard methodology, policies, and procedures and guidelines including:
- Project Integration Management
- Project Scope Management
- Project Time Management
- Project Cost Management
- Project Quality Management
- Project Risk Management
- Project Expectations Management
Travel to field offices, vendor related seminars, conventions, and conferences, when necessary.
Other duties as assigned
Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requirements
Education:
BS degree required in Information Systems or equivalent work experience
Professional project management training will be considered a plus.
Experience:
5 years Project Management experience in IT environment
Knowledge of Data Center infrastructure (HVAC/MEP) required.
- Excellent planning, organizational, interpersonal, verbal & written communication skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external customers and department staff.
- Must be highly organized, self-directed, and able to direct multiple projects and people simultaneously.
- Strong customer service focus: including an emphasis on customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of Clarity reporting system a plus
- Strong teambuilding skills.
Work Environment/Physical Activities/Equipment Used:
Knowledge of Desktop / Laptop computers, MS Office applications, MS Project, Visio, CAD, CAFM
