SQL Server Database Administrator
Position Summary:
Responsible for providing support for enterprise implementations of SQL Server in a 24 x 7 production environment.
Major Duties:
Plan, organize, implement, and maintain multiple database environments, both production and development
Assist in database designs and implementations
Perform object reorganization, storage management, troubleshooting, monitoring
Work with application developers to plan, design and implement information technology solutions, providing expertise in areas including Backup/Recovery Strategies, Performance Tuning, Data Migration, Security, and Capacity Planning
Implementation of database monitoring/management tools and policies
Build DTS and SSIS packages to load and scrub data
Schedule and monitor backups, maintenance plans, and other jobs
Perform back-up and recovery activities
Manage database security including logins, permissions, and encryption
Manage clustered SQL Server implementations
Implement log shipping and replication
Utilize Windows Performance Monitor and SQL Server Profiler to monitor and troubleshoot database performance
Develop scripts to automate and centralize database processes where applicable
Provide recommendations on performance enhancements in pre-production and production environments
Provide recommendations on database index strategies based on performance metrics
Perform capacity planning on database servers
Provide on call coverage to support production database problem determination/resolution
Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
Minimum of 2 - 4 years database administration experience in SQL Server 2000
Experience with SQL Server 2005
Experience developing and implementing DTS and/or SSIS packages
Experience using Query Analyzer, Profiler, and Execution Plans
Experience with Windows Performance Monitor
Experience with database security assessment tools
Experience using Transact-SQL scripting language
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Exposure to physical database design, performance tuning, security roles, SQL Server best practices, etc.
Experience with implementing disaster-recovery techniques, implementing and maintaining high availability solutions including SQL Server Clusters
Must be organized, proactive, detail-oriented, self-motivated, disciplined, professional, and a team player
Proven experience and capabilities in handling complex and demanding situations
MCDBA and VB scripting a plus
