Senior Cisco Engineer
Senior Cisco Engineer Lynchburg, VA The design, configuration, build, installation, tuning and operation of network routers, switches, content switches, firewalls and other supporting network and security related systems. Must be a self-starter with excellent analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills and be a proven professional with excellent written, verbal skills and strong team player. Candidates must possess excellent customer service skills. Candidates must be able to support the development of new technology recommendations and proposals including the design of systems, obtaining vendor quotes and the support of cost estimates preparation of proposal documents. Good working knowledge of all common transport technologies (LAN and WAN), with good working experience with the majority of the most frequently used ones (MPLS, SDH/SONET, FR, ATM, PPP, DSL, Ethernet). • Solid understanding of all the major routing protocols IGP and EGP protocols (for example BGP, MP-BGP, ISIS, OSPF, RIP, RIPv2, EIGRP) and be familiar with Multicast networks. • Extensive knowledge of networking equipment including Cisco routers, Cisco switches, Cisco Wireless Access Points, Cisco Content Switches, CSUs/DSUs, Modems, Multiplexers, and exposure to other Cisco equipment. • Experience with the use of other vendor hardware is desired. • Working knowledge of structured cabling systems, Cat5e, RJ-45/fiber patch panels, wall outlets and multimode & single mode fiber optic cabling is required. • Good working knowledge of firewall design, development, configuration, maintenance and management. • Experience with Cisco Pix firewalls required. • Must be familiar with IDS and Internet Proxy and Filtering design, operation and maintenance. • Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of related technical experience • 8 to 10 years of hands-on technical support experience will be considered in lieu of a degree • CCVP, CCIE certifications
