Job Posting ID: 1279Working Location: Washington, DCEmployment Type: Full-Time RegularPosition Summary:Summary – The Senior IT Systems Engineer primarily will be responsible for the data center Infrastructure end to end and also will be responsible to perform technical evaluations, integrate COTS & custom applications, define solutions, develop processes, perform system engineering functions (trending, metrics, documentation, computing infrastructure), to support Intelsat Business-Facing Operations and all Enterprise Services for Intelsat Operations. Implement upon high availability and disaster recovery framework, architecture, and concepts. Provide Windows, Linux and HPUX systems administration support. Provide 24x7 on-call support on a rotating basis.Critical Responsibilities –1. Play a key role in supporting the data center infrastructure end to end for all applications. This involves playing a key role in the day to day data center operations, ensuring deploys to the production environment are handled promptly as per established guidelines, data backups and restores are adhered to, 24x7 operational systems are optimally performing and disaster recovery norms are fully established. 2. Provide Windows, Linux and HPUX systems administration support. 3. Provide 24x7 on-call support on a rotating basis.4. Design and perform trending analysis, and metrics definitions for improved operations.5. Evaluate highly complex systems, performance, and issues in order to provide recommendations for improvements. Produce appropriate specifications and support documentation.6. Define, implement, and audit IT infrastructure standards and guidelines for Intelsat computing environments.Important Responsibilities – 1. Play a support role in the infrastructure design of in-house and 3rd party development of Intelsat operational systems. 2. Specify and/or select appropriate hardware, COTS products and toolsets, in conjunction with system architects and departmental system engineers.3. Monitor technical contracts with vendors and software providers, to ensure contractual requirements are met.4. Interface with operational staffs, support staffs, integration & test staffs, development staffs, project staffs, other operational area system engineers, and system architectsMinimum Requirements:Indepth system administration skills in Windows and in either Linux or HPUX is a must. Exposure and proven storage administration skills in either EMC or NetApp is desired.Exposure and proven administration skills in NetBackup is desired.Familiarity with Data Center Operations (administration, backups and restores, deploys) is desired.Ability to go on call and handle 24x7 IT Operations is desired.Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate clearly.Preferred Qualifications:5 years of experience in Windows 3 years Linux and/or HPUX operating environments. Windows and Unix experience should include high availability and load balancing solution (MC/ServiceGuard, Veritas Clustering, Microsoft Load Balancing)4 years of experience in system engineering disciplines.4 years of experience in Promotion Model (CM, Imaging, Packaging, Distribution schemes).4 years of experience in Directory Services and access methodologies ( ADS, LDAP).3 years of experience in network technology, security, and protocols.3 years of experience in various COTS (NetBackup, Argent, Nagios, exposure to SQL, Oracle etc.)3 years of experience in various technologies (EMC/NetApp Storage, High Availability, Disaster Recovery, etc)Required Experience: 5 yearsRequired Education: Bachelors DegreeTravel Required: NoTravel Percentage: 0FLSA: ExemptDepartment Name: IT Operations and EngineeringRelocation Provided: No.
