Senior Mechanical Engineer

The Senior Hardware Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of next generation network test equipment. Spirent**s next generation equipment will implement the latest and fastest networking technologies, and will require ingenuous innovation. Component density and increasing power requirements will require exceptional real estate planning and thermal management expertise.  The Senior Hardware Engineer will be responsible for the overall design and optimization of the system**s physical design and ensure design for manufacturability practices are implemented.

Specific projects will include chassis design, electronic module packaging, thermal design and analysis, packaging design, and manufacturing product transition. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of mechanical design within electronic module and chassis design projects, and will need to closely integrate with PCB design activities to ensure project success.

Designs will be implemented using the ProEngineer CAD package and thermal analysis will be done using the Flomerics Thermal Analysis Software package.

This position requires an individual who can efficiently integrate into a cross functional team to meet aggressive project schedule milestones.

This position is based in Calabasas, CA, Sunnyvale, CA, or Honolulu, HI and reports to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The candidate selected for this position must have at least four years experience in mechanical chassis and component design. Experience in electronics cooling and analysis is also required.

Candidate must be able to effectively communicate with all members of the design team. Communication will be both verbal and written.

EDUCATION:
BS with 7 years professional experience, MS with 5 years professional experience, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
