Senior Radio Communications Technician
Tribalco LLC, a growing wireless communications company, seeks a qualified Radio Communications Technician to install, repair, and maintain two-way LMR and satellite radio systems. Support includes telephone Helpdesk duties and on-site deployments. We are seeking individuals who are self-motivated, reliable, and possess an entrepreneurial spirit to join our team of like-minded individuals. The position is based in Denver, Colorado and requires travel throughout the US, primarily in the western states.
You will provide our customers with post sale implementation and ongoing support of complex communication systems. This includes: technical support of specialized communication systems and product applications; advanced troubleshooting of software driven electronics; communication system infrastructure provisioning; performance optimization of RF and Broadband architecture including, but not limited to, legacy analog, advanced digital Project 25, data infrastructure, and satellite communications.
Responsibilities:
Our ideal candidate must be able to troubleshoot, install, maintain, and repair LMR/satellite radio systems and terminal equipment. Experience with multiple protocols, i.e., Motorola Smartzone/Smartnet, M/A-Com EDACS, EFJ LTR/Passport, conventional, trunking, analog, digital, Project 25, etc., and multiple technologies, i.e., LMR, satellite, IP networking, microwave, etc. is a plus.
Perform troubleshooting and maintenance to correct operational/training deficiencies with communication equipment/end-users with a focus on trend analysis and results documentation. Read and interpret electrical, radio and other communication system drawings, schematic diagrams and sketches, and operator manuals. Remain current with latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques through self study and/or attending industry seminars/training courses.
Communicate with customers to resolve issues with their communications system over the phone and/or in the field, personally or through a certified subcontractor. Provide comprehensive training to customers and their staff on technology protocols, equipment operation procedures, and preventative maintenance. Position requires on-call status to perform Helpdesk and repair functions outside of normal work hours.
Must be able to work in a team environment and individually lead installation projects requiring skills in customer and subcontractor management, mobile, base station, and antenna installation, and communications equipment programming. Perform job functions in a diligent fashion to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction while meeting Tribalco business goals.
Specific Skills:Diagnose and troubleshoot in-vehicle radio problems Apply and retain concepts learned during training for various system components. Advise customers of repair and service activity/status to ensure satisfaction with service and equipment Compile data, prepare detailed reports, and complete related paperwork and documentation regarding call logs, service work orders, failure trends, etc. Alert project team to potential customer needs and/or equipment opportunities Daily review of open trouble tickets and follow established guidelines to ensure service calls are completed/closed on a timely basis
Knowledge of: Networks and RF Systems radio repair Mobile radio vehicular installation Repeater installation, configuration, repair R56, ANSI, OSHA standards DC, AC and RF theory, as it applies to wireless communications Computer use to program, fleetmap, troubleshoot, and perform system diagnostics on complex communication systems RF and electrical test equipment including: oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, volt/ohm meter Symbol products familiarization Specialty and common hand tools needed for equipment installation and repair
Other Requirements:Ability to lift up to 40 lbs Ability to perform light tower and communications site work Valid driver’s license, excellent driving record Working knowledge of PC and MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-Project and PowerPoint.
Education and Training:
Successful candidates will have four plus (4+) years experience in installation and repair of communications equipment, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associate degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or related RF/Electronics training is highly desirable and relevant military experience is a plus.
