Compliance, research and accrual analysis for federal and state/local income, franchise, capital stock and gross receipts taxes for several jurisdictions.Access and manage tax credits and incentives for all tax typesSpecial projects and research as needed (USOC review for uniform coding, Accounts payable and use tax)Main point of contact for resolution of customer tax/billing issuesAssignment of proper tax coding for new product rollout.Responsible for exempt certificates maintenance (issuance and receipt approval) and internal audits for all companies.Research Tax and Regulatory exemptions, acceptable documentation and provide updated information to Cost, Order Management Client Services and field personnel.Research software to assist in maintaining customer tax-exemption certificate database.Responsible for audits of respective tax areas.Responsible for preparation of federal and state income/franchise/capital stock tax returns for a complex multi-state telecommunications company.  This includes compilation of data for preparation of estimates as well as extensions and returns.  Ensure that all estimates, extensions and returns are timely filed throughout the year.Responsible for FAS 109/tax provision analysis for combined group.Oversee monthly G/L reconciliations Researches federal and/or state laws and related legislation and regulations regarding these taxes.  Capable of making recommendations based on this research.Prepares and maintains budgets and accruals for income/franchise/capital stock taxes.Responsible for maintaining compliance calendars, registrations and monthly G/L account analysis to ensure balances accurately reflect liabilities.Assists with internal tax inquiries, outside tax consultants, counsel and state tax auditors with regards to certain tax matters and audits.  Respond to all federal and state income/franchise/capital stock tax notices.Proactive in communicating possible tax saving opportunities to management.Special projects and research as needed.Required Skills

Six or more years in tax compliance, research &/or auditGeneral knowledge of federal and multi-state tax laws, regulations and procedures involved in the various types of federal and state taxation.Analytical, able to interpret data, make recommendations or required changes quickly.Highly organized, very detailed and project oriented individual.  Ability to work well with colleagues from various other departments.  Telecommunications experience is a plus, but not mandatory.Sarbanes Oxley experience is a plus, but not mandatory.
Required Experience

Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel (creation of worksheets, ability to navigate existing worksheets, create formulas), Word (create and navigate documents, understand tabbing, margins, labels, paging), PowerPoint (basics only).Knowledgeable in Oracle; Ability to navigate CCH Tax Research Software (or similar tax research software).*CB
