Software Engineer (Wireless Applications)

The successful candidate will be part of a team developing Layer 2 and 3 protocol software for Spirent’s industry leading 2G & 3G network simulation applications for mobile device testing. Position involves the development of state machine based network protocol processing using Microsoft Windows based application software or PowerPC embedded software. This includes the integration of hardware and software. The successful candidate will implement new products as well as enhancements to existing products.

Responsibilities:1. Design and implementation of Layer 2 and 3 protocol software for 2G & 3G network simulation applications

2. Design specification, implementation and testing of embedded and applications software for test instruments

3. Development of state machine based network protocol processing

4. Development of Microsoft Windows based application software or PowerPC embedded software

Qualifications:* BSEE/BSCE required with a minimum 5 years of experience
* The successful candidate must have strong familiarity with CDMA2000 or UMTS wireless communication technologies and a high aptitude for both physical layer and protocol layer details related to RF communication networks.
* Experience with design verification testing of wireless terminals is desired.
* Strong knowledge of structured software design practices.
* Candidate must have working knowledge of Microsoft Visual C++ (Windows) and/or object-oriented design and programming.
* Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC) or PowerPC based WindRiver VxWorks experience desirable
* Motivated, self-starter who likes challenging work.
* Possesses strong problem solving skills and team-oriented approach.
* Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Good written and verbal communication skills are also needed in this position
