Sr Director, Engineering

Position Summary: Executive responsible for providing the leadership, strategic and tactical direction for the Houston Region.

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, TASKS

Function as the chief engineering resource to the RVP for engineering planning and decision-making as it relates to architectural development and implementation and the development and deployment of new services and technology throughout the Region.

Prepare engineering budget and manage all expenditures and capital projects associated with the engineering department to operate within budget guidelines. Responsible for Regional operating budget, revenue, cash flow and basic subscriber count.

Direct the prioritization and rollout of new products (VOD, CDV, Digital Simulcast, Enhanced Basic, etc.) within the Region. Work with local & regional operational teams to successfully launch new technologies.

Direct engineering team to meet system goals and projects, and assist with improving metrics, with a focus on best practices and building efficiencies.

Ensure systems and staffs are able to respond to the demands of new technology deployment and maintain an in-depth technical knowledge of new technology.

Ensure that Regional service, governmental and franchise demands are met effectively and efficiently. Ensure adherence to industry, Corporate and Division standards and guidance.

Ensure Regional competence and continuity of qualified staff through optimum selection, development, appraisal and motivation techniques in accordance with Comcast policies and procedures.

Manage interface, training requirements and communications among Corporate, Division, and engineering teams.

Maintain a state-of-the-art technology knowledge base

Instill a "Think Customer First" environment with a strong emphasis on service excellence and change control rigor.

Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or the recognized equivalent in work experience, or a combination of work experience and education.

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 10 plus years experience in a major market cable system operation and/or multiple location cable system operation, including 5 years management experience. Budgeting and P/L experience. Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills. Excellent knowledge of current and emerging technologies and hardware architectures. Strong organization and program management skills.
