We're currently looking for a Senior Manager to join our Data Infrastructure Engineering Department where teams design, implement and assure the common technologies including TDM, ATM, IP, Optical, Storage, Security, Platforms. Senior Manager is expected to lead a team of principal engineers and managers for continuous improvements in the existing core and edge infrastructure and charter the course of the foundations of T-Mobile's core and edge data and transport networks for a 24-month horizon on a permanent basis. Senior Manager will be at the forefront of new technology introduction as T-Mobile moves the majority of its traffic from the traditional circuit-switched systems onto packet-switched media and spearhead the implementation of convergence of multiple services. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: - Lead a team of 12 or more FTEs - Identify staffing requirements; interview and make recommendations for hiring - Identify training needs for employees; plan and implement training resources - Conduct performance evaluations, build employee career development plans - Prepare yearly budgeting requirements, manage team budget for CAPEX and OPEX - Oversee the gathering of requirements for core and edge data infrastructure and transport networks from various business, design, development, operations teams - Be responsible of development and maintenance of the core and edge data infrastructure architecture and its evolution to all-IP networking - Be responsible of developing RFI/RFP and vendor evaluation standards, test specifications, and making purchase recommendations - Enhance performance of existing networks, identify opportunities for improvement and devise innovative solutions - Develop methods and procedures to explain roadmaps and plans for core and edge data infrastructure and transport network to business, design, development, operations teams - Interact with senior leadership personnel for project creation, development and delivery phases - Represent T-Mobile in vendor negotiations, industry forums Qualifications & Competencies: - Must be able to multi-task in its true meaning - Must be able to deal with ambiguities and changes in business environment - Must have excellent communications skills to engage various levels of individuals including senior leadership - Must have high sense of accountability and a desire to excel in leadership - Must have extensive breadth as well as depth in technologies and solutions T-Mobile currently uses within its infrastructure - Must be fluent in technology trends and applicability of existing or emerging technologies for T-Mobile business problems - Must have hands-on experience with equipment from well-known data infrastructure vendors including, Cisco, Alcatel-Lucent, Tellabs, F5, Nokia, Juniper - Must have working knowledge of network security threats and vulnerabilities that may adversely affect network infrastructure and attached host systems - Must be pro-active and creative in identifying business challenges and matching innovative solutions - Have the ability to act as the technical lead for very large projects (24 months, in excess of $20M) - Must be conversant in T-Mobile's choices of wireless access technologies including GSM, GPRS, WCDMA, 802.11 and must understand the implications of supporting these access network over the core networks - B.S. in Engineering or Science, Computer Science or Telecommunications required, Masters degree preferred.
